Metalsmithing is a broad field. Please note that WE DO NOT have the facilities or space for Casting, Metal Clay, Hollowware, Lapidary work, Blacksmithing (steel work) or Kiln Enameling.
**We have quite a few items for sale in our Studio Store (including beginner kits). You are welcome to shop the store either online or in person during your studio time. Additionally, we will gladly sell you “special order” tools, supplies, and materials. We place a Rio Grande order about once a week and can easily add what you need.
*Due to the slightly dangerous nature of metalsmithing, bench memberships are limited and will need to be approved.
FINDING THE PERFECT MEMBERSHIP FOR YOUR NEEDS
We have three types of membership - social, maker and bench (shared or designated) membership. Our social membership is for anyone that wants to be a part of this great community. As a social member, you’ll be invited to all of our members ONLY events and get access to our members ONLY Facebook Group. You’ll also be added to our public member directory. The membership directory is for the public and our community to connect with local metalsmiths and metalsmith adjacent folks for help with future projects.
Our maker membership is an excellent idea if you’re interested in taking a series of private lessons or you regularly attend our workshops. The maker membership includes discounted private lessons ,workshops/classes, and merch. Additionally you’ll be invited to members only events, you will get FREE access to our monthly “mini” workshops, and our student code to get wholesale pricing for 6 months with Rio Grande! Discount codes will be provided once membership is confirmed. With the maker membership, you receive all of the benefits of being a bench member, but without the use of our physical studio.
To be a bench member, you must have metalsmithing experience and be comfortable working on your own without any guidance in our studio. Don’t worry, we will absolutely give you a tour of the space and show you how to be safe with our tools. If you need a few lessons to get you there, we can help with that too. Bench members not only get 24/7 access to our studio, but they’ll get a link to our “members only online portal”. The portal is full of helpful information about utilizing the studio, share tools, library, and our materials and tool store, plus a member directory to get to know your fellow members.
