ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR, BECCA:
During my Photography BFA studies at KU, I became infatuated with how organic shapes in nature could be juxtaposed with sharp, architectural lines found in city development. Outside of school I was learning how to build and fabricate mopeds and motorcycles. Post-grad, I enrolled in my first metalsmithing class at the Lawrence Arts Center in 2016 and never looked back. Since then I've been mostly self taught, but have loved every step of the way. Having a creative background and a technical eye has been this perfect marriage of why I love metalsmithing and how much I've enjoyed sharpening my skills over the years. I love that metalsmithing has no ceiling as to what you can learn, and I'm excited to have the opportunity to share that with you.
